With climate change, these diseases are increasingly appearing in regions where they previously did not exist, due to rising temperatures and the expansion of vector habitats.<\/p><p>The combination of vector control measures, <b>personal protection, education, and surveillance is crucial to prevent and control these diseases<\/b>. Warmer temperatures and changes in rainfall patterns create favourable mosquito breeding and survival conditions. Some of the most common diseases include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Dengue<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vector<\/strong>: Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Causative Agent<\/strong>: Dengue virus (DENV).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms<\/strong>: High fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, rash, and in severe cases, dengue haemorrhagic fever.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention<\/strong>: Elimination of mosquito breeding sites, use of repellents, mosquito nets and protective clothing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Malaria<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vector<\/strong>: Anopheles mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Causative Agent<\/strong>: Plasmodium spp. (P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. malariae, P. ovale, P. knowlesi).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms<\/strong>: Fever, chills, sweating, headache, nausea and vomiting, anaemia and, in severe cases, organ dysfunction and death.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention<\/strong>: Use of insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor spraying with insecticides, prophylaxis with antimalarial drugs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Zika<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vector<\/strong>: Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Causal Agent<\/strong>: Zika virus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms<\/strong>: Mild fever, rash, conjunctivitis, muscle and joint pain, headache. In pregnant women, may cause microcephaly in fetuses.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention<\/strong>: Mosquito control, use of repellents, avoid pregnancy in areas of active transmission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chikungunya<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vector<\/strong>: Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Causative Agent<\/strong>: Chikungunya virus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms<\/strong>: High fever, severe joint pain, muscle pain, rash, fatigue.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention<\/strong>: Elimination of mosquito breeding sites, use of repellents, mosquito nets and protective clothing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yellow Fever<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vector<\/strong>: Aedes aegypti mosquito.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Causative Agent<\/strong>: Yellow fever virus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms<\/strong>: Fever, headache, jaundice, muscle pain, nausea and vomiting, liver and kidney failure in severe cases.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention<\/strong>: Vaccination, mosquito control.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lyme disease<\/strong><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vector<\/strong>: Ticks of the genus Ixodes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Causative agent<\/strong>: Bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms<\/strong>: Erythema migrans (bull&#8217;s eye rash), fever, headache, fatigue, arthritis, neurological and heart problems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention<\/strong>: Wear protective clothing, check for ticks after outdoor activities, use repellents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Japanese encephalitis<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vector<\/strong>: Culex mosquito.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Causative agent<\/strong>: Japanese encephalitis virus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms<\/strong>: Fever, headache, vomiting, confusion, convulsions, and in severe cases, inflammation of the brain (encephalitis).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention<\/strong>:
